Investors

The University of Kansas Center for Technology Commercialization (KUCTC) actively seeks the collaboration experienced entrepreneurs and investors can bring to our projects. We value the assistance of entrepreneurs and investors who can provide specific technology, industry and/or market knowledge.

One of KUCTC’s objectives is to foster the growth of new businesses based on KU technologies. This objective has been realized through its tradition of industry collaboration. We work with researchers and inventors, entrepreneurs, and investors to create successful transitions from innovation to new enterprise. We have been involved in a multitude of start up companies through the years that have grown out of KU technologies. Creating a Company at KU provides an overview of the creation process, the Start Up Company Checklist offers a list of what is needed, and the Start Up Company Questionnaire outlines a way to work through the process.

Forming a start-up company or a new business entity provides an option different from licensing intellectual property to an established business. In some cases the breadth of the technology makes a start-up company the attractive choice for the specific technology. In other cases a start-up business may be the only viable way for further development of the technical opportunity. In each case, the new start-up company must present a compelling case to investors, business partners, inventors, and the University that it can secure resources and funding to achieve sustainable success. Our list of products in the market place provides details of the types of technologies and creative works that have been produced.

If you are interested in participating in the financial aspects of intellectual property commercialization as an entrepreneur, angel investor, or contributing alumnus please contact Jim Baxendale at (785) 864-7783 or (913) 588-5439.
